Nano rings or micro rings?
Both are ring methods, but the size changes the look and who they suit. Here is how to tell them apart.
Nano rings and micro rings work the same way. A strand of extension hair is held to a section of your own hair by a small ring, which is closed with pliers. The difference is the size of the ring.
Size and look
Nano rings are the smallest ring method, so they sit very close to the root and are hard to spot. Micro rings are a little larger. On very fine hair the smaller ring is usually the more discreet choice.
Who each suits
- Nano rings: fine or thin hair, and clients who want the most discreet result
- Micro rings: hair with a little more body, where a slightly larger ring is not a problem
What it means for training
Belle Hair Extensions teaches both. Its N1 course covers four strand methods, micro rings among them, plus nano rings. Our home page explains what the course covers.
Choosing
If most of your clients have fine hair, nano rings are worth learning first. If you want a wider range, a longer course that includes both gives you the choice.
